The photography website, Jimi A Productions, had a website created to process professional photography requests. After making this site SEO friendly, it may be considered one of the best photography websites on the Internet today. Client needed a way to process photography customers automatically and have them fill out all the necessary information for each type of request. For example, an event needs a time and place where as for a studio shoot, that information may already be known. In addition, the system should make it easy for clients to book another gig by just logging into their account and sending another request.
This client took our advice and went for custom development. We built a custom framework with both the HTTP and HTTPS protocols. With the drastic improvements in HTTPS, it may not be so beneficial now, but we did it with HTTP to gain speed since the website would contain many images.
Many pages on the front end were put together with content and such, but the real fun doesn't happen until you get to the back-end. To plan that out, we went with a custom backend for the clients and an overall backend for the administrators. The administrators need to have the ability to respond to the customers and such as described in the Online booking section of the website. Once any information is gathered in the front or back end (logged in), the system ensure that the connection is secure with HTTPS. As described in the process page, the user is able to log in and request their date for photography.
Afterwards, the administrator would log in and confirm or deny the request. This will send an email to the user and inform them to make their deposit payment within 3 days. Payment for the deposit is also collected while the user is logged in. So where they book their photography, they can also use to make payment all within the same system. In addition, they can retrieve their photos (once the administrator updates the location of their photos) through the system and prior to retrieval, they are encouraged to leave a review at the different review websites.
This backend system had to be designed well to not be compromised or hacked. You wouldn't want to charge your customers a penny for your services and you wouldn't want to have the data compromised by web hackers. All of these things were taken into consideration while building out the backend system. In addition to be in compliance with PCI requirements, the data sent from card information is never stored to a hard disk.
After planning the in-depth development at Jimi A Productions, we were able to knock out the requirements with good speed. Since the development is custom, it will take a hacker much more time to compromise the system, and it is protected quite well with defenses built in that can be expanded upon.
